Munising Township Board

Meets for regular meetings at the Munising Township Hall on the first Monday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. If a meeting date falls on a holiday, or the meeting is cancelled due to inclement weather, the meeting is held the following night at 7:00 p.m.

Meets for public hearing on Township’s annual budget on the first Monday in March beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Meets for special meetings on an “as scheduled” basis. All special meeting notices will be posted at the Munising Township Hall as well as on the homepage.

Board of Review

Meets at the Munising Township Hall on the Tuesday following the first Monday in March to review and examine the property assessment roll. This meeting is often referred to as the “organizational meeting” and the board of review is not required to hear individual assessment appeals at its organizational meeting.

Meets on the second Monday in March, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., to hear tax payer appeals.

Meets on the second Tuesday in March, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., to hear tax payer protests.

Meets on the Tuesday following the second Monday in December, and on the Tuesday after the third Monday in July to review and correct any clerical errors or mutual mistakes of fact on assessments (current or preceding tax year). Homeowner’s principal residence exemption from local school taxes as well as poverty or hardship exemptions may be granted at the July or December board of review.

Planning Commission

Meets at the Munising Township Hall the second Wednesday of every quarter month (March, June, September, and December) beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Zoning Board of Appeals

Meets at the Munising Township Hall on an “as scheduled” basis. All zoning application/hearing notices will be published in The Munising News and posted here on our website.

Special Notices:

A Public Accuracy Test of computerized voting equipment will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. at the Munising Township Hall. Click here for more details.

Munising Township Clean-Up Day!! On Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wood Island Landfill will be open to Munising Township residents. Two roll-off containers will be provided during this time at Shingleton Hall. NO mattresses, box springs, or tires. NO yard waste, liquid waste, or freon appliances. Dumping fees paid by Munising Township. OPEN TO MUNISING TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS/PROPERTY OWNERS ONLY. Proof of residence is required (drivers license/tax bill).

MAY ELECTION/ABSENTEE BALLOT – The Munising Township Clerk will hold office hours on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to distribute or receive absent voter applications and/or ballots or to register an elector to vote.

ELECTION DAY is Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Munising Township
